Written and recorded almost entirely in 2006, the Desert Island EP then sat untouched for nearly two years. It was rescued, in large part, by Aimee Mann’s selection of John Galt as the winner of the Aimee Mann "Freeway" YouTube Contest 2008.

All of the songs are written, recorded, arranged, performed, engineered and produced solely by Galt, as well as the photography for the album’s cover, and all accompanying graphic design. The entirety of this self-released effort was recorded in a bedroom using a single microphone.
